All newborn sessions are always done at the comfort of your own home. No need for anything, no pressure, just relax and put your feet up. I will provide all that's needed. Although natural light is my absolute favorite for newborn sessions, I also use a portable lighting to help with not-so-bright rooms. The only thing I will ask of you is to have a space available for me to set up and that you change and/or swaddle your baby in between sets.
I have a variety of baskets in many different colors, shapes & sizes for you to choose from. Each basket style has unlimited options for nearly any theme you decide on. Also included with basket sets are basket fillers, like furs, large-woven yarn mats, braided yarns for textures and more! The all come in a variety of colors!
Don't want your floors in the shot? I got you covered...literally. Up to 3 floordrops are included with each session. If you would like just a plain color or even wood floors, I can provide multiple options for those as well. Floor drops can be used with or without baskets, and some (including plain colors) can be used to cover nearly every surface.
I'm sure you probably have a bazillion bows for your baby girl, but I also have some pretty ones to offer on sessions. Some are just very plain and some are rather extravagant.
Although you may have a few special outfits already planned for your little one to wear, I do recommend doing at least one set of photos with baby swaddled. I have quite a few options to choose from to match with any set.
When planning newborn sessions, getting a game plan ahead of time is always best. Let's chat before your little one arrives, so when the time comes everything is good to go! Message me with any questions!
Planning ahead for your newborn photo session always eases up any extra stress. There's so many things going on just before and after your new baby is born. That's why having a vision of what you want your newborn photos to look like is key to having a relaxing time while having those precious moments captured just the way you envision them. I always recommend to match at least one set of your newborn baby's photos to the theme of their nursery, because the prints will just match so well while framed up on the wall. But having a chat prior to your baby being born gives me time to make a few sets and send over some ideas so you know exactly what to expect. This also makes it easier for me to be ready for those surprise moments of the baby arriving earlier than schedule too.
Fresh 48 photos are taken within the first 24-48 hours after day of birth. This is a great alternative to hospital photos during or directly after labor and still fresh enough to capture your little addition's first hours into the world. These pictures will capture your baby's tiny features that will change very rapidly over the next few weeks. I highly recommend having these photos taken, as they are, in my opinion, the most important photos of your sweet little one that you'll cherish forever.
On the day of your newborn session, I have just a few small recommendations. Have your baby fed about one hour prior to session. This helps to ensure baby will be full and sleepy. Another important note is to loosen up any clothing that can leave indentation marks on your baby's skin, including loosening up their diaper especially if you plan on doing nude shots. If swaddles are what you plan on having your baby in during session, I highly recommend having them tightly swaddled prior to shoot, as we can always wrap over top of an existing swaddle. If you would like to use swaddles and specific outfits, I recommend doing swaddles first and then outfits last. As for posing baby, there are certain poses I will not do, due to it being dangerous and unsafe. I prefer to do photos where baby most safe and is lying slightly upright in basket or flat on back on top of cushion.
